Last week we were focused on learning the letter "P" in our 4-year-old Preschool classes! We have celebrated this letter with a Plethora of Perfect activities. We ate Pancakes a Plenty, looked Perfect in our Pajamas, and dressed as a Proud Pack of Pirates and Princesses. And of course, it would not be "P" week without Praise songs and Prayers! Enjoy our Pictures.

Prayer Journals: Growing In Faith

Prayers take on a physical form as the third grade classes put their prayers and thoughts to paper in a journal, with their own artistic creations displayed colorfully on the cover, and their hearts' inner thoughts on the page.

“Last year, it was my task to take the Bible curriculum,” explained 3rd grade teacher Amy Adkins.”I wanted to make it into something that was clear and applicable to third graders, so I used the book as a guide to create lessons that would help third graders grow in their faith. It truly was a labor of love.”

After seeing how this moved so many of her students, including one that accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, Adkins decided to take her lessons one step further. “After seeing the impact of these lessons last year,” Adkins described. “I decided this school year to buy each student a journal that they could not only record their answers to thought provoking questions that went along with the lessons, but could incorporate art into the journals. Teachers also provide a written prayer for each day that students include in the entries. The hope is that these students will keep this journal handy and refer to it often.”

“I really like our journals,” said third grader Baylin Meyer, “because they help you get closer to God.”

These journals are ones that students are sure to save and keep with them as they grow, and look back on a special time in their lives here at PCA.
