2nd Grade Celebrates The First Thanksgiving!

main image

A feast for all! On Thursday, November 19 if one dropped by any of PCA's lower school classrooms they would have seen activities taking place that were centered around the history of the Thanksgiving holiday. But for anyone who walked by the cafeteria, they would have done a double-take as students dressed as Pilgrims and Native Americans for the annual second grade Thanksgiving feast.

Each year the second grade students learn the history behind Thanksgiving and end the unit with a Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings. The feast is prepared by Chef Bob and his amazing crew of volunteers. After the feast, the classes gathered outside to partake in games that the children of that time period would have played, such as tug of war and swing the ring on the stick.

It was a wonderful time filled with friends, food, fun, and the PCA family.

Preschool Press: Life On The Farm!

Our two's are learning by doing once again! We've been learning about life on the farm this month: how the farmer takes care of the animals, how certain animals provide food for us, and how the farmer grows crops. Each class ended the unit with a day of farmyard fun including wagon rides, corn shucking, bean snapping, potato peeling, butter churning and soup making!

Our two-year-olds absolutely love learning, especially with some hands on fun!
