3rd Graders Explore The Natural Habitat Of Cypress Gardens

main image

On Friday, the 3rd grade students went on an exciting field trip to Cypress Gardens in Moncks Corner. The outing began with a a boat ride through the beautiful black water swamp filled with towering cypress and tupelo trees. The children were able to observe alligators, wading birds, and beautiful flora, all while learning about the history of the gardens.

After the boat ride, the 3rd graders learned about plants, pollination, and photosynthesis from local experts. They also learned about the stages of the butterfly life cycle and were then rewarded with a visit to the Butterfly House, filled with beautiful plant life and hundreds of butterflies.

The students finished the day with a picnic lunch and some fun on the adjacent playground. The day was filled with joy, learning, and laughter. We are sure this is a trip that will not be forgotten!

Student Government Association Is Leading The Way!

main image

Student Government Associations exist in schools across the country as a means of governing student interests, providing support to the student body, and serving others by hosting activities and events that enhance student life. “A major part of our vision” said Upper School Principal, Sean Keiper, “is to encourage a positive environment of growth for students. We see great value in hearing the voice of the students regarding their experience. We desire to gather their input and work with them as they drive the spirit of the school. One way this occurs is through our Student Government Association.”

Our newly elected SGA officers and representatives for the 2021-2022 school year are:

President - Colin Johnson
Vice President - Abigail Walters
Treasurer/Secretary - Sally Cease

Class Representatives:
9th: Greta Anderson & Joseph Terry
10th: Autumn Benton & Hans Payne
11th: Jordan Benfield & Sarah Anne Horne
12th: Kendall Anderson & Anna Jaye Walters

When asked what he most hoped to accomplish this year, President Colin Johnson said, "My goal is to deliver to PCA the requests of the student population all the while striving to carry out the Lord’s will for this school in everything I do and through every decision I make. The SGA administration and I are currently working on a handful of projects. These include planning the homecoming festivities, integrating student led small groups, and raising awareness in the community by participating in events such as the Walk for Life. I am so honored to be serving PCA in this position and want to thank everyone for giving me the opportunity.”

SGA's first task? Homecoming. The new team met last week and already worked out many of the details of this fun, annual tradition at PCA including this year's Spirit Week theme, “All Around the World!”

PCA looks forward to the year ahead with these dedicated students leading the way!
