Liz grew up in the Lowcountry and graduated from Wake Forest University, where she received her degree in Elementary Education. She was a minor in Studio Art, taking classes in various disciplines and spending a semester abroad at art school in Florence, Italy. Liz spent her first years of teaching in Arlington, VA as a first grade teacher and assistant reading specialist, while continuing to take classes for fun at art schools in the DC area. After she and her husband, Yates, returned to Mount Pleasant in 2012, she used her skills in education to homeschool her sons, Solomon and Judah, during their preschool years. The Lord then called the whole family to PCA in 2021, and they are thrilled to be both teaching and learning in an environment that is focused on the wonder and beauty of Christ!
