What We Look Through Matters
In the busyness of the day to day, sometimes we can miss what is right in front of us.
In last week’s middle school History class, Kara Karnes shared a picture of her recent trip to Iceland with the following introduction.
“This picture is definitely one of my favorite ones from Iceland because it is just breathtaking - a full rainbow going across this magnificent waterfall! You want to know something though? I almost missed it!! Know why? When we first walked up, I was wearing polarized sunglasses. Polarization reduces the glare that otherwise makes it difficult to see. Glare is caused by the light from the sun reflecting off a solid surface or water! In other words—- A RAINBOW!!"
Mrs. Karnes continued explaining the relevance of this with the class, "What we are looking through matters. If I hadn’t changed my perspective and what I was viewing through, I would have missed this incredible view altogether!”
Karnes shared, "When we are looking through God's perspective- we will see the beauty in a fallen world, the beauty of the people around us, and the overall just pure beauty of God. However, if we continue to view and look at situations, people, and the world through our own ways and methods, we are going to miss so much. What we are looking through matters in what we will see! We must look at everything around us through a "Biblical lens". Just like my above story- if I had not changed mine, I would have missed this incredible beauty!”
Colossians 3:2, “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”
