First Graders Learn About Pumpkins!
Fall brings the changing of leaves, apple cider, and most of all, pumpkin patches!
Last week, first grade classes went to Legare Farm for their annual pumpkin patch field trip. When students arrived at the farm, they were able to learn about the life cycle and care of pumpkins before being able to pick out their own pumpkin to bring home.
Students also enjoyed visiting the petting zoo where they were able to feed goats and pigs before climbing onto an open wagon filled with hay. As they bounced along the acres of land which make up the fully functioning farm, they stopped just long enough to feed cows via open palms, and get an up close look at the farm animals.
Before heading out, students delighted in a picnic lunch under the trees, then headed back to campus with their pumpkins! All in all it was a fun fall-themed adventure!
